What to Expect When You Come See Me
I work from a pragmatic, holistic, integrative perspective, incorporating dynamic, cognitive, behavioral, relational, existential, and mindfulness-based perspectives depending on your needs. This may sound like a lot of jargon (and it is!), but it essentially comes down to the idea that I tailor my approach to what you need. Therapy may be short-term or longer-term. You may want to come for just a few sessions to learn some effective stress-management or symptom-management techniques or get support and a sense of greater clarity over time or through a challenging period. At our first meeting, we'll discuss what you have in mind and how we can work together to meet your goals.
When you first reach out to me, we’ll have a free 20-minute phone consultation to get a sense of what you’re looking for, to discuss fees and insurance, and consider together if working with me might be a good fit. An initial meeting is 60-90 minutes long and subsequent therapy sessions are typically 60 minutes weekly. As of this time, all sessions are virtual and we can meet on my secure video platform. I may also offer in-person sessions in an office in Lower Manhattan in the coming months.
